varicocele
Do you have enlarged veins in your scrotum? So be careful, it could be varicocele!
What is varicocele?
A varicocele forms when valves within the veins of the spermatic cord prevent blood from flowing properly. This causes the blood to back up, causing the veins to swell and widen.
It's essentially the same process that forms varicose veins, or varicose veins, which are common in the legs.
When does varicocele occur?
These varicose veins in the scrotum tend to appear at the puberty stage, but this is not a rule.
Some symptoms of varicocele
What is usually possible to suggest varicocele, in addition to visual factors, are reports of pain that can increase, in the face of intense exercise.
However, the ideal, when in doubt, is to consult a doctor who will immediately perform a physical exam and may request imaging tests and spermogram.
What are the consequences of the disease?
Varicocele is the leading cause of male infertility.
treatment for varicocele
The procedure for varicocele correction would be indicated in case of two situations:
- Alteration of the spermogram with infertility;
- Chronic pain in the testicles.
In view of the progressive nature of the disease, treatment is also recommended for single men with clinical varicocele and with altered sperm analysis.
Varicocele surgery is performed using state-of-the-art microscopes, aiming at a high success rate and minimizing surgical complications as much as possible.
